Agenda to Promote Educational Excellence (APEX) Consortium

The mission of APEX is to assist secondary schools in Western Pennsylvania in their efforts to pursue educational excellence and to promote student achievement. This mission is accomplished through individualized attention to a school's teaching and administrative staff so that they can impact students and communities.

We provide opportunities that:

• Help schools build their capacity for change;
• Develop teacher leadership;
• Enhance and support administrative leadership;
• Offer teacher training in classroom level improvement and opportunities for student demonstration of learning;
• Provide a setting for intellectual engagement; and Connect resources and ideas across schools and organizations.

The Teachers Academy is a two year leadership development program designed to promote a school's capacity to improve student success by developing and supporting teacher leadership and growth.

The Administrative Circle supports administrators with further development of their own leadership skills and deepens their understanding of teacher leadership to further support teachers to be successful.

Socratic Seminars include an annual student summit and summer training workshops. Seminars are a highly motivating form of intellectual discourse which fosters active learning as participants explore and evaluate ideas and issues.

The Leadership Cadre (under development) is designed to develop and advance professional leadership within the school and to the broader community.
