The mission of APEX is to assist secondary schools
in Western Pennsylvania in their efforts to pursue
educational excellence and to promote student
achievement. This mission is accomplished through
individualized attention to a school's teaching
and administrative staff so that they can impact
students and communities.
Center for Advancing
the Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL)
The Center for Advancing the Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) was established in 1998 in the Department of Foundations and Leadership at Duquesne University School of Education. CASTL engages in research programs dedicated to understanding, advancing and disseminating evidence-based study of the teaching-learning process.
Leadership
Institute
The Leadership Institute promotes the development
of new models of leadership through interdisciplinary
and collaborative training and research projects.
Through a series of on-going projects, the Institute
enhances the development of leaders, human resources,
and organizations. Through a series of special
events, the Institute creates opportunities fortransdisciplinary
inquiry into the assumptions, characteristics
and skills of effective leaders.
Pennsylvania
Leadership Development Center (PLDC)
The Pennsylvania Leadership Development Center
(PLDC), a non-profit organization formed in 1995
and committed to providing strategic leadership
development training opportunities for Superintendents
and persons aspiring to become Superintendents
is ready to embark on a new paradigm in leadership
assessment and development.
Reading Clinic
The Reading Clinic provides services for children
in the primary, intermediate, junior high, and
senior high levels of schooling. Children may
be referred to the clinic for both diagnostic
evaluation and tutorial assistance.
Virtual Internet Coach (VIC)
This online environment was designed to support principals in performing daily tasks and addressing the problems associated with thier important administrative role.
