Pennsylvania Leadership Development
Center:

Faclitators of the
June, 2001 PLDC, held at Duquesne University,
gathered to critique center participants.
The PLDC matches experienced superintendents
with new superintendents or those aspiring
to the superintendency who seek an opportunity
to assess present skills and futher develop
individual growth opportunities.
- With it's foundation
built on the mission of the Pennsylvania Inventors
Association(PIA), the Student Invention Program
was developed in 1988. The Thirteenth Annual
Student Invention Contest, sponsored by the
PIA and the Duquesne University School of Education
Leadership Institute, was held Saturday, May
13, 2000 in the Duquesne Union Ballroom.
- Members of the North
Allegheny School District Management Support
Team tackle the ropes course at Linsley Outdoor
Center. Dr. Helen Sobehart, Director of the
School of Education Leaderhip Institute, served
as the team's consultant. The two day retreat
at Linsley was a culminating experience to the
year long process of learning, discussing ,
and planning the work of the team in service
of the goals of the district, the growth of
the staff, and the success of the students.
- Former President of
Duquesne University, Dr. John E. Murray, Jr.,
speaks at "Best Hiring Practices",
an event hosted by the university. Educational
leaders from 135 different school districts
and 11 counties gathered on March 9, 2000 for
an important forum aimed at enhancing public
education through effective hiring practices.
The forum was a collaborative effort between
Duquesne University School of Education Leaderhip
Institute, PA-Educator.net, the Allegheny Intermediate
Unit, Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators,
Pennsylvania School Boards Association, Pennsylvania
Association of School Personnel Administrators,
and Pennsylvania State Education Association.
